Maison Bertin
In one of the Italian most beautiful towns, Maison Bertin is born thanks to an intuition of Mr. Corrado Bertin, the last descendant of the family, well known in the hospitality industry in centuries.
Historical building dated 1829, in the past it was used as rural home with stable and barn, it now comes back to life following a recent renovation, that kept intact the architectural features of the time.
This renovation has been able to combine its nature of “historical document” with the main technological and environmental innovations.
RESTAURANT
The historic and renowned restaurant La Croix Blanche, belonging to the Bertin family since the XVII century is located just a few steps from the hotel.
You will spoil your palate tasting traditional dishes of Aosta Valley and modern dishes, ranging from meat to fish, in a cozy location decorated with typical elements of the region.
ÉTROUBLES and SURROUNDINGS
The village of Etroubles, located in the Gran San Bernardo Valley, was nominated for the first time in the ancient Romans' documents of the imperial age under the name of Restapolis. It was probably the place where the local garrison spent the winter.
The most famous moment certainly was the 20th May 1800 with the arrival of Napoleon Bonaparte and his 40.000 soldiers. Etroubles is also located along the Via Francigena, pilgrimage route from the Middle Ages to our days.
The proximity to the cross-country ski trails makes it a perfect destination for a winter stay, while in the summer season you can enjoy trekking along the marked trails that start near the hotel.
It is also possible to go horseback riding in the nature or immerse yourself in the romantic atmosphere of the village with its narrow streets and flowered balconies.
